SummaryThis position is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing commercial kitchen equipment, performing general building maintenance tasks, and conducting preventive maintenance for dining facilities. Daily work orders are assigned by the Maintenance Foreman, and the technician must provide status updates and maintain accurate service reports. When needed, the technician will submit work orders to the Facilities Management Division for tasks beyond the scope of this position.
Responsibilities- Troubleshoot and repair commercial kitchen equipment using schematics and manuals.
- Perform inspections and preventive maintenance on all commercial kitchen equipment.
- Complete and maintain service reports and parts order forms.
- Execute a wide variety of mechanical and building trade tasks, including plumbing, electrical work, painting, simple construction, and fabrication.
- Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance for all dining facilities.
- Submit work orders to the Facilities Management Division when necessary.
- Assist with special projects for building and equipment maintenance.
- Participate in training sessions and departmental meetings; provide feedback to improve policies and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Technical knowledge acquired through apprenticeship, formal training, or on‑the‑job training.
- Basic plumbing, electrical work, and general maintenance skills.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for commercial kitchen equipment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Efficiency in using computer applications for assigned tasks.
Climb stairs and ladders; work from ladder or scaffold. Bend at waist and knees. Work with arms and hands overhead for extended periods. Use, care, and maintain hand tools and power tools. Navigate confined spaces, crawl in utility tunnels, attics, pipe chases, etc. Lift and move items up to 75 pounds, both assisted and unassisted. Perform outdoor duties in hot or cold conditions as required.
Safely operate a UGA state vehicle when necessary.
