Position SummaryThis is a semi‑skilled part‑time position at the Burton 4‑H Center on Tybee Island operating buses. The work involves responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of vehicular equipment and usually includes some equipment maintenance duties and other semi‑skilled activities related to the equipment and building maintenance. Employees will receive definite and detailed instructions from a supervisor at the time of appointment, and the work is performed according to established procedures with frequent daily inspections.
Responsibilities- Drive buses with students to and from field study sites (80% of time).
- Occasionally drive to local schools to pick‑up or drop‑off local day groups (10% of time).
- Clean buses, including sweeping, washing windshield, and maintaining dashboard and interior cleanliness.
- Requires at least a high school diploma or equivalent. Education/experience may be evaluated in lieu of the minimum qualifications.
- Experience in the operation of a bus or truck, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Valid Class B CDL (Haz Mat and Tanker endorsements not required for the current posting).
- Experience operating a bus or truck.
Sitting for long periods of time and occasional light lifting in an indoor and outdoor environment.
