Job Summary
:
This position is responsible for assisting the District Manager with the operations and compliance of the McHappy’s Bakeries. The role ensures bakery operations, processing and preparing baked‑goods and other food for the bakeries and restaurants, supervises and trains the bakery staff, and maintains a clean and safe working environment. The incumbent works closely with company owners and other supervisors on overall food management, costs, pricing and profitability.

Responsibilities,

Duties & Accountabilities
  • Supervise bakery operations, ensuring the highest standards of quality for products sold in the company’s bakeries and restaurants.
  • Train and develop staff on baking and preparation of food, including baked goods, breads, donuts, desserts (cakes, cupcakes, cookies), pizza crusts, etc.
  • Oversee inventory and re‑order of necessary food stock supplies and orders.
  • Ensure clean and safe practices for food handling by employees, including marking food items and expiration dates, preventing cross‑contamination, ensuring routine inspections of supplies, and maintaining proper oven settings.
  • Maintain current food‑handling permits and Serv Safe certifications.
  • Supervise unloading of incoming truck loads, inventory, and stocking of incoming supplies.
  • Supervise and train employees on performance, development, and employee relations issues.
  • Provide coverage during absences and handle complaints or concerns with tact and professionalism.
  • Cross‑train all employees in general cleaning services to ensure an exceptionally clean kitchen and prep area.
  • Purchase, inventory control, and report routine results to leadership.
  • Enforce payment policies, processes, and controls.
  • Teach and train employees on company policies, standards, SOPs, and checklists.
  • Follow and enforce safety and security practices and protocols, completing daily, opening, closing, and cleaning checklists.
  • Ensure employee participation in all required trainings and successful completion of all department checklists and SOPs.
  • Assist the District Manager and Human Resources in recruiting and training new employees.
  • Recommend employee wage increases and confidentially address employee issues in accordance with policy.
  • Support the District Manager, Company Owners, and HR in handling employee separations and maintaining professional relationships.
  • Take a proactive, positive, and sincere interest in customers to maintain strong community relationships.
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
Position Requirements and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED, preferably supplemented by college courses in Management, Accounting or Business‑Related field of study.
  • Minimum three to five (3‑5) years’ experience in a Bakery, Commissary or Food and Beverage in a management capacity; internal company experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 2‑3 years’ experience supervising employees, with strong leadership skills and the ability to lead and train others in restaurant operations.
  • Above‑average knowledge of Food and Beverage and related operations.
  • Experience with stocking/inventory needs, cost vs. sales/profit, and security controls of products.
  • Computer skills, preferably with Microsoft Office products, POS Systems, and the ability to navigate technology.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with other employees, exercising tact and professionalism.
  • Professional demeanor and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to apply strategic business logic while making sound decisions under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion in dealing with sensitive information.
  • Physical demands: stand for long periods, walk frequently, use full reach and range of motion, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to adhere to regular attendance and work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory and required attendance, punctuality, and flexible schedules.
