Position Summary:

The Pre-Award Manager provides comprehensive proposal development and submission support to faculty, researchers, and administrative staff seeking external funding. This position serves as a primary resource throughout the pre-award lifecycle, assisting with the interpretation of sponsor guidelines and application requirements; development of proposal submission plans and timelines; preparation of proposal checklists; development of complex budgets and budget justifications; and coordination of proposal components from internal and external collaborators.

The Pre-Award Manager acts as a liaison among principal investigators, institutional offices, and collaborating organizations to facilitate proposal submission activities, obtain and manage subaward documentation, and ensure proposal requirements are met. This position is responsible for developing and assembling proposals in Cayuse and other electronic research administration systems and facilitating proposal uploads to sponsor submission portals.

This position works closely with faculty, departmental administrators, research staff, and central university offices to coordinate multiple concurrent proposal submissions while maintaining a high standard of quality, accuracy, and customer service.

Working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, the Pre-Award Manager must demonstrate exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to independently manage multiple competing priorities. Success in this role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, a comprehensive understanding of sponsor requirements and grant proposal processes, and the ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely, compliant, and competitive proposal submissions.
