Assistant Professor of Instruction, Music History (non-tenure track)
The School of Music invites applications for a full-time instructional position in music history. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to popular music (History of Rock) and the history of Western Art Music, participate in graduate oral exams, and perform university duties as assigned. The individual selected must contribute to all aspects of the School of Music, including recruiting and retaining students, serving on committees, and engaging in community outreach.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in music history, including History of Rock and Western Art Music.
- Participate in graduate oral examinations.
- Contribute to recruitment, retention, and student support activities.
- Serve on departmental and college committees.
- Engage in community outreach and public engagement activities.
- Doctoral degree or ABD in musicology, ethnomusicology, music history, or a related field at the time of application.
- Preferred:
Successful record of teaching at the collegiate level and experience teaching non-major music courses.
