At Caris Health Care the Hospice Sales Representative develops and maintains working relationships with referral sources and professional community contacts to increase access to hospice care for terminally ill patients. The Representative is responsible for market share goals.

$62,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience.

• Identifies new referral sources utilizing corporate resources and community contacts.
• Works with Regional Director, Sales & Marketing to develop, implement and evaluate quarterly territory plans to meet goals and execute strategies defined by the marketing plan.
• Develops a call plan to achieve objectives, conducts a minimum of 40 sales calls and presentations each week, and generates referrals by building long‑term partnerships.
• Uses proven sales techniques for calls, including opening, probing needs, presentation, handling objections and closing; consistently meets admission targets on a monthly and quarterly basis.
• Maintains key business accounts and follows up with individuals to build relationships.
• Builds relationships with nursing home staff, physician offices, discharge planners, hospitals and hospice teams.
• Serves as liaison between external customers and administrators, notifying about gifts and resolving them.
• Updates administrators and patient care managers on new referrals discovered in the field.
• Facilitates billing and contractual resolutions between referral sources and administrators.
• Educates referral sources and first‑time physicians on hospice programs within three days of patient admission.
• Works with referral sources to improve understanding of hospice services and grow census.
• Maintains a database of all referral sources.
• Informs patient care managers and administrators of new ideas, situations and problems.
• Coordinates orientation programs for new and existing contracting entities to meet standards and regulations.
• Keeps contracting information for all nursing centers and hospitals up to date in accordance with Caris policy and Medicare/State regulations.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Healthcare, Business or related field is preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of the sales process in a healthcare environment.
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills; outgoing, perceptive and self‑motivated; able to work harmoniously with a diverse group of people.
• Availability for overnight travel may be required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to function efficiently in a stressful work environment.
