Job SummaryThe Substation Technician maintains and repairs electrical and electronic equipment systems, supporting the construction of new substations and modifications or upgrades of existing ones for electrical utility companies. Per diem is provided when applicable.
Responsibilities Core Responsibilities- Assist in new and existing construction tasks such as demolition, site preparation, excavating, back filling, landscaping, trenching, pole setting, and cable labeling.
- Read and understand system maps related to electric distribution, substation capacities, load areas, circuit feeds, and system sectionalizing.
- Assist with installing transformers, bus structures, switch gear, underground/overhead lines, ground grids, and control buildings.
- Operate forklifts and maintain a valid forklift certification.
- Work with industry equipment like man baskets, skid steers, shovels, compactors, and backhoes.
- Work around energized high voltage systems with skill and care.
- Comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
