Plant Manager – Renewable Energy, Anaerobic Digestion
Astute’s Renewable Energy team is partnering with a UK leading business in anaerobic digestion that provides cost‑effective, low‑carbon and food and organic waste management. We are seeking an experienced Plant Manager for their site in North Warwickshire.
The strategically important Plant Manager role comes with a salary of up to £65,000, life assurance, employer pension and an additional benefits package.
ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Area Manager you will:
- Optimise process plant operations
- Manage feedstock processing and planning
- Produce weekly and monthly reporting of plant efficiency, trends and data analysis
- Provide the highest level of safety and environmental standards, including HAZOP, DSEAR and ATEX control measures
- Ensure site compliance with COMAH regulations
- Provide solutions to technical variances
- Coordinate site maintenance and planned preventive maintenance (PPM)
- Cover on‑call and weekend shifts
- Control costs and manage budgets
- Manage external contractors when necessary
- Draft RAMS and be accountable for HSE
- Maintain relationships with external bodies, such as the Environmental Agency
- Manage on‑site colleagues, including Operators and Engineers, and be responsible for their development and training
- Perform first‑line mechanical maintenance and raise more complex faults to an on‑call team
- Other duties as required
- Qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, such as chemical or mechanical (advantageous)
- Mobile Plant (telehandler, loading shovel) licence or time‑served experience
- WAMITAB or willingness to work towards
- NEBOSH or willingness to train towards
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
- Experience in anaerobic digestion or a similar heavy processing environment at a managerial or supervisory level
- Experience working on a COMAH regulated site
- Lead by example
- Excellent computer literacy
- Mindset towards continuous improvement and genuine passion for the industry
- Excellent people‑management skills
- Salary of up to £65,000 depending on experience
