About the Team:
The Parenting Practitioner is a team made up of Social Workers and Senior Family Support Workers who complete Parenting Assessments and Prebirth Assessments to assess a parent’s ability to safely meet a child's physical, emotional, and developmental needs.
These assessments take place within the remit of Public Law Outline and Care Proceedings alternatively a prebirth assessment within Child In Need and Child Protection where there has been a history of removal of previous children. Parenting Assessments and prebirth assessments will also utilize the specialised framework ‘Parent Assess’ for parents with learning disabilities or complex needs. Assessment methods and processes include direct observations, multiagency collaboration, interviews with parents and direct work with children.
Outcomes and recommendations focus on safeguarding decisions to determine whether a child can remain safely at home or require alternative care planning. This is in addition to support planning which outlines specific services or intervention steps needed to reduce risk to the child.
Our practice is firmly grounded in Restorative Principles. We work with families, supporting them to identify their strengths, understand challenges and create meaningful, achievable plans for positive change. Every family is supported to develop a plan that is individual to them and builds on their own capacity to achieve lasting outcomes. You’ll be joining a team that is ambitious for children and families, open to innovation and committed to reflective, relationship‑based practice.
We actively support learning and development, providing a nurturing environment where practitioners are encouraged to grow, share ideas and develop their confidence and skills.
If you are passionate about achieving the best outcomes for children and families, enjoy working as part of a supportive multi‑agency team, and want to be part of a service that values new ways of working and professional development, we would love to hear from you.
