Senior Cost Accountant

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee cost accounting and financial tracking for specialized manufacturing contracts and projects
• Calculate and record percentage-of-completion revenue under ASC 606 guidelines
• Evaluate WIP balances, direct labor, material costs, and production-related variances
• Work alongside production teams to assess project spending, margins, and overall financial performance
• Analyze financial statements and ensure accurate recognition of manufacturing costs and revenue
• Contribute to monthly closing activities, general ledger reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Recommend enhancements to accounting procedures, cost controls, and reporting efficiencies

Qualifications of the Senior Cost Accountant:

• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years focused on manufacturing or cost accounting
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
• Demonstrated knowledge of job costing, contract accounting, or project-based manufacturing environments
• Familiarity with ASC 606 and hands‑on percentage-of-completion revenue recognition highly desirable
• Strong foundation in GAAP, financial statement analysis, and manufacturing accounting practices
• Experience supporting aerospace, defense, industrial manufacturing, or custom production operations preferred
• Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong Excel proficiency, and confidence working across accounting and operational teams
