The Propagation Cultivation Lead reports directly to the Propagation Manager and is responsible for leading a team of up to 12 Cultivation Propagation Technician while overseeing daily propagation activities to ensure plant health, quality, consistency, and productivity. This role provides hands‑on leadership, training, coaching, and accountability to the cultivation team, ensuring daily and weekly tasks are completed effectively, safely, and in accordance with established cultivation procedures.
The Propagation Cultivation Lead is expected to clearly communicate task expectations, explain the purpose and execution of cultivation and propagation activities, and foster a positive, productive work environment. Through direct action and delegation, this position supports the successful execution of propagation operations, employee development, and team performance while maintaining compliance with company policies, state regulations, and cultivation standards. Work is performed in a cultivation environment with regular exposure to cannabis plants, cannabis‑related odors, pollen, dust, and varying temperatures, humidity levels, and lighting conditions typical of commercial cultivation operations.
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Team Leadership
:
Leading Cultivation Propagation Technician and associates working in the cultivation phase, providing training, maintaining a schedule, and performance feedback - Oversee Cultivation Operations
:
Manage the propagation and mother rooms, ensuring optimal environmental conditions (light, humidity, temperature) for plant development - Mother Stock Maintenance
:
Perform defoliation, pruning, cutting/irrigating clones and staking techniques to optimize light penetration, airflow throughout the propagation cycle - Compliance & Documentation
:
Ensure all activities comply with state regulations and company SOPs, including METRC tracking and inventory control
- Plant Health Monitoring
:
Identify and report issues such as pests, nutrient deficiencies, or diseases during the propagation stage - Data Analysis
:
Track team performance metrics and adjust cultivation strategies accordingly - Additional Responsibilities

Perform other duties as assigned
- Must be 21 years of age or older and be able to pass a background check
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a State Registered Agent Card
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Comfortable working in environments with high humidity, strong plant odors, and fluctuating temperatures
- Ability to work safely at elevated heights, including climbing ladders and using hand tools as needed
- Willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and to follow sanitation and safety standards
- 1+ years of experience in commercial cultivation or commensurate experience
- Strong knowledge of plant biology and propagation cycles
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
