Paralegal – Defense Litigation Atlantic City, NJ
Cooper Levenson is currently seeking a highly professional and experienced Defense Litigation Paralegal in the State of New Jersey, to provide assistance through all phases of the litigation process.
Responsibilities- Conduct legal research.
- Prepare court lists weekly.
- Review files prior to attorney court appearance.
- Complete pre-trial discovery including summarizing the following: medical records, transcripts, carrier files, wage histories, work histories, personnel records, etc.
- Correspond with insurance carriers and opposing counsel to obtain needed information and discovery.
- Correspond with medical providers and handle HIPAA authorizations.
- Draft pleadings, motions, appellate documents, and file them with the court.
- Maintain pleadings and discovery.
- Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices.
- Document and code all time worked in time and billing system.
- Monitor and track court deadlines and filings.
- Provide administrative support, as needed, such as scheduling appointments and maintaining attorney calendars.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Thorough understanding of all Worker’s Compensation rules, procedures, terminology, and documentation.
- Experienced in utilizing the New Jersey Worker’s Compensation filing systems and performing all associated tasks, including retrieval of mail and other communications from the court, filing exhibits, evidence, and written arguments, preserving objections, etc.
- Knowledge of standard office procedures, computers, and related software applications
- Ability to create, compose and edit written communications and materials.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a broad range of clients in a diverse community.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
- Must be skilled in Outlook, Word, Excel, Lexis Research and Adobe Pro
- Must be highly organized, task-oriented, and able to work independently.
- Familiarity with Net Docs and Time Matters, a plus.

Pay: Exempt; $55,000-$65,000
