Position SummaryThe Registered Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with the Physician. The nurse utilizes the nursing care process consistent with their license and/or certification and oversees coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care to align with the medical treatment plan. The patient care process includes assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation, along with culturally competent continuum of care in inpatient, outpatient, and community settings.
Responsibilities- Assessment – systematically gather and organize subjective and objective data about the patient/family, including physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural aspects.
- Planning – identify actual or potential problems and set desired outcomes, develop a documented plan of care to guide patient, family, and interdisciplinary team.
- Intervention – implement specific interventions or orders consistent with the plan of care and medical treatment plan.
- Evaluation – assess effectiveness of interventions, determine achievement of desired outcomes, and initiate reassessment or revisions as needed.
- Patient‑specific duties include performing limited laboratory services such as specimen collection, processing, quality control, instrument maintenance, and reporting test results, with required competency and certification.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
- License/Certification: Current RN licensure in New Jersey; BLS/HCP required.
- Experience: 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience preferred. Proficiency in Clinical Applications expected within 30‑60 days of hire.
Demonstrates the ability to perform the department‑specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
Work Environment- Exposure to blood‑borne pathogens and other hazardous substances.
- Physical demands: considerable reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, extensive standing and walking (incl. stairs), lifting 25‑50 lbs frequently and 50‑100 lbs with assistance occasionally, pushing and pulling heavy equipment.
- Ability to distinguish colors may be required in some departments.
Reports to patient care unit or department leadership.
