The City of Attleboro seeks a Watershed Tender/Hoisting Operator/Laborer for the Water Department who, under the direction of the Water Superintendent, is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of grounds surrounding the City’s watershed areas, as well as assisting the maintenance staff with the upkeep and maintenance of the water treatment plants and vehicle and equipment fleet.
Duties include controlling equipment to regulate water flow and water levels in reservoirs, cutting grass and brush on watershed properties, maintaining watersheds and other Water Department properties, operating heavy equipment, keeping records on reservoir levels and daily weather, repairing and maintaining machinery and equipment used in the distribution of drinking water including pumps, piping, valves, motors, and filters, greasing and repairing pumps, replacing bearings and other worn parts and components of all specialized equipment, operating machinery and equipment as necessary in connection with maintenance and repair, performing maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and equipment including both gasoline and diesel engines and engine‑powered equipment, performing tune‑ups, repairing brake and electrical systems, performing clutch and transmission repairs, performing minor auto body work and related welding, performing preventive maintenance work and changing tires and batteries, performing maintenance and repair of buildings and property including carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical work not requiring a licensed electrician such as replacing cords and fuses, participating in the City snow and ice program, and performing related work as required.
Requires a High school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience as grounds keeper or maintenance man, or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Working knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment ordinarily used in the repair and maintenance of buildings, machinery and motor vehicles. Knowledge of the methods of grounds maintenance including care of lawns and cutting of brush.
