Corporate Automation Manager JOB SUMMARY

The Corporate Automation Manager leads a team of engineers to develop, deliver, and validate automation cells and projects. Responsible for automation in program launches as well as in support of operational excellence. Accountable to customer engineering requirements and specifications. Drives read across to through the organization and standards. Manage and coordinate automation projects including technical feasibility assessment, planning, design optimization, cost/schedule management, risk assessment/mitigation, deliverables communication and ongoing production support.

Measure and achieve the safety, quality, reliability, and timing requirements of automation to meet organizational goals and project specifications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible in launch gates to evaluate for buyoff and transfer of automation.
  • Responsible for automation cost quotes and make build/buy decisions based on cost, timing and type of automation.
  • Responsible for creating/maintaining standards for automation cells.
  • Lead team members to achieve timely and accurate accomplishment of goals, providing access to development experiences as appropriate.
  • Lead all aspects of automation projects i.e. technical studies, design, specifications and technical plans, project timing, equipment runoff, debug, tryout, and quotations for any scope changes.
  • Develop risk mitigation plans – engage with key Android personnel and suppliers to proactively identify and mitigate critical risks.
  • Ensure all work is performed accurately, efficiently, on‑time, and within budget.
  • Manage detailed budgets for each program/project and control expenditure within budget.
  • Compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract/assembly requirements, and related specifications.
  • Integration of assembly and safety best practices.
  • Track automation project accomplishments by comparing outcomes to plans.
  • Work with equipment manufacturers to provide required training and assure automation meets.
  • Specify new equipment requirements to support new programs and or replace existing equipment.
  • Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
  • Facilitate problem solving for ongoing problems in regard to automation.
  • Manage and communicate timing of programs and open issues lists to Program Managers and.
  • Develop a high‑performance culture with an emphasis on innovation, continuous improvement, operations excellence and team member safety.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative work environment with other departments and plants.
  • Ensure the Engineering Change process is followed. Provide the discipline to use the process to plan and prepare for changes.
  • Develop the leading indicators for each project to be monitored proactively.
  • All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, etc.)
  • 10+ years of Automotive Manufacturing experience or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering technical leadership.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Able to perform and provide leadership for typical manufacturing engineering functions including process design, layout design, facilitate Kaizen activities, quality support, ergonomics and environmental health and safety.
