Electrical /Hardware Engineer (Invertor/Power Electronics)

The Power Inverter Module Innovation is responsible for leading the design, development, and technical assessment of power electronics components, including inverters, converters, and onboard charging devices. This role serves as a subject matter expert (SME) in power electronics and plays a key role in advancing technology maturity by following established Technology Readiness Level (TRL) processes, ensuring requirements alignment, and evaluating emerging technologies.

The position requires close collaboration with internal manufacturing and production teams, program management, advanced purchasing, cost engineering, external suppliers, and testing laboratories to ensure compliance with specifications, requirements, and industry best practices. The ideal candidate brings strong hands‑on design experience, deep understanding of hardware circuitry and failure modes, and solid knowledge of manufacturing processes.

In addition, this role is responsible for developing and maintaining technical documentation that captures best practices, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and contributes to long‑term product and technology roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead design and development activities for power electronics components, including power inverters, converters, and charging systems
  • Act as a technical authority and SME in power electronics, supporting technology evaluation and readiness assessments
  • Ensure alignment of requirements, specifications, and documentation throughout the development lifecycle
  • Apply TRL processes to assess technology maturity and support decision‑making
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including manufacturing, program management, purchasing, cost engineering, suppliers, and testing organizations
  • Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, manufacturability, and industry best practice standards
  • Analyze hardware circuitry, identify potential failure modes, and support root‑cause investigations
  • Develop and maintain best‑practice documentation to support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to the development of product technology roadmaps and future power electronics strategies
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Mechatronics, Systems, or Mechanical Engineering
  • 8+ years of experience in high‑voltage, high‑power, or electric vehicle environments
  • Experience with power electronics and electrical modeling and simulation tools
  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience in power inverter or traction inverter development
  • Strong understanding of power electronics devices, architectures, and operating principles
  • Knowledge of engineering standards, design specifications, and validation protocols
  • Understanding of hardware circuitry, failure modes, and reliability considerations
  • Automotive‑focused experience in applications engineering and product development
  • Working knowledge of DVP&R and DFMEA methodologies
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Familiarity with power electronics analysis and simulation tools
  • Self‑motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently
  • Proven ability to work effectively in cross‑functional team environments
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with power electronics specifications related to electric motors and powertrain controls
  • Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design and fabrication experience
  • Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes
