Powertrain Thermal Systems Engineer

- Perform powertrain function analysis and function decomposition.
- Gather regulatory requirements, environmental, electrical parameters and corporate specifications.
- Create high-level functional requirements in IBM DOORS Next Gen (DNG) including attribute classifications.
- Identify, analyze, and document propulsion system operating modes in DNG.
- Develop propulsion system energy conversion, storage, and delivery requirements considering standards and OBD compliance.
- Define end-of-life service requirements (IO, routine, DID) for propulsion components.
- Analyze powertrain thermal system performance visually across normal, de-rated, and non-functional ranges.
- Perform System Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (SFMEA) for propulsion functions and identify safety requirements.
- Participate in Agile methodology to plan RASI deliverable timing and identify potential risks.
- Develop simulation/virtual models for propulsion features/functions using MATLAB and SysML Rhapsody.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Electronics Engineering or related degree.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in conventional and hybrid powertrain development.
- Good understanding of overall vehicle dynamics and vehicle system functioning.
- Good understanding of automotive electrical sensors and actuators, temperature sensors, pumps, valves system functioning.
- Expertise with automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN and OBD standards.
- Experience in function analysis and function decomposition.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products Outlook, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint.
- Proficient in requirement management tools such as IBM Rational DOORS, IBM DOORS Next Gen.
- Experience with Vector Tools for data collection.
- Vehicle validation or powertrain calibration experience.
- Familiarity with Agile project management.
- Experience with overall vehicle development cycle and change management process.
- Strong communication skills and ability to lead cross‑functional meetings.
