The Underhood Engineer is responsible for designing and developing underhood systems for new vehicles, ensuring they meet regulatory requirements, customer expectations, and competitive benchmarks. This role focuses on vehicle powertrain, cooling, fuel, exhaust, and thermal management systems. The engineer addresses packaging, integration, and adaptation challenges as vehicles progress toward production and leads cross‑functional teams to balance performance, cost, reliability, and manufacturability of underhood components and systems.

Presentation of design concepts to management and stakeholders will be required.

• Establish physical and functional integration of underhood systems and components during program planning (concept to program approval).
• Translate strategic and functional objectives into technical requirements for powertrain, cooling, fuel, exhaust, and thermal management systems.
• Create and analyze alternative design concepts, perform benchmarking against competitive vehicles, and optimize system integration.
• Package and integrate underhood systems while balancing vehicle‑level performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
• Lead cross‑functional teams to resolve integration, packaging, and adaptation issues across vehicle programs.
• Prepare and present design concepts and progress updates to management and stakeholders.
• Utilize advanced CAD and PLM tools to develop, analyze, and document underhood system designs.

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, from an accredited program.
• 2‑5 years of vehicle engineering experience in one or more underhood areas:
  Powertrain Adaptations, Engine Systems (Cooling, Fuel, Exhaust), or Chassis Systems.
