We are looking for multiple Dynamometer Test Engineers to work in Auburn Hills to work on the D Shift which is afternoons on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The condition for employment is that you must be able to work these hours. There will be opportunities for overtime.

The Test Engineer's responsibilities spanning across engine dynamometer testing, troubleshooting, and engine/test article support. This role involves a deep understanding of facility controls, PLCs, and instrumentation used for engine testing. The engineer will also assist in emissions testing and may work with emission analyzers to conduct government-mandated emission tests on internal combustion engines (ICE). The ideal candidate will have the ability to quickly analyze and resolve data and test issues.
The position will require collaboration with Calibration Engineers to create test schedules and control strategies using dyno control software. Additionally, the engineer will work with the internal software team to develop enhanced testing software that improves product quality and accelerates product development timelines.
Experience in both conventional and battery electric vehicles is beneficial, and the candidate should be able to thrive in a team-oriented environment, supporting and promoting team accomplishments. Technical training in INCA software and hardware is also essential as well as dynamometer control systems.
Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Responsible for engine dynamometer testing, including troubleshooting and repairing instrumentation and engine/test article issues.
- Ensure a thorough understanding of facility controls, PLCs, and engine/test instrumentation.
- Assist with emissions testing; experience with emission analyzers and conducting government-mandated emission tests on ICE engines is a plus.
- Analyze test data to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
- Work with Calibration Engineers to create test schedules and implement control strategies using dyno control software.
- Collaborate with the internal software team to develop better testing methods to improve quality and expedite product development.
- Work in both conventional and battery electric vehicle domains.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team environment, supporting and promoting the achievement of team goals.
- Provide appropriate technical training in INCA software and hardware.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- 2+ years of engineering experience in an engine dynamometer testing environment.
- Knowledge of data acquisition systems and data analysis techniques.
- Experience in hardware project management.
- Understanding of computer control systems.
- Must be able to work afternoons. Overtime and weekends as needed.
Preferred Requirements:
- Master's degree in an engineering discipline.
- Familiarity with ICE and battery electric vehicles is desirable.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience using Matlab and Python.
- Exceptional organizational and planning abilities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to create and deliver presentations.
