Composites Manufacturing Engineer

On‑site (Auburn Hills)

• Evaluate manufacturing processes based on quality criteria, such as efficiency and speed
• Interpret composite tooling/parts requirements, and curing processes
• Assist with material selection, especially with fiber‑reinforced polymers and resins
• Troubleshoot issues specific to composite manufacturing (e.g., delamination, fiber misalignment)
• Collaborate with design engineers to ensure manufacturability of composite tooling/parts
• Recommend and implement improvements in composite processing techniques (e.g., autoclave, resin infusion, hand lay‑up)
• Ensure designs and processes meet FAA, EASA, DoD, and company‑specific requirements
• Provide technical guidance to manufacturing teams during fabrication and assembly
• Resolve shop‑floor issues related to materials, tooling, parts, curing cycles, and bonding
• Improve manufacturability, reduce scrap, and optimize cycle times
• Prepare engineering reports, test documentation, and certification packages
• Maintain configuration control and adherence to quality management systems (AS9100)
• Contribute to corporate quality policy and objectives
• Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance
• Follow OSHA safety guidelines, and ITAR compliance
• Other duties as assigned

• Hands‑on experience with composite materials and processes is highly desirable
• Independent judgment to plan, prioritize, and organize diversified workloads
• Ability to suggest changes in office practices or procedures
• Ability to work with a diverse group of external and internal contacts at all levels of the organization
• Experience with quality systems (AS9100)
• Experience with CAD (CATIA)
• High School diploma or GED required
• Composite Engineering degree‑related Bachelor of Science preferred
