Overview

The Auburn Hills Police Department (AHPD) provides professional law enforcement services to the City of Auburn Hills. AHPD is accredited by the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police and emphasizes a community policing approach. Members are accountable for their conduct and work to improve safety and quality of life within the community.

Base pay range: $67,184.00/yr - $90,334.40/yr

Salary: $67,184 - $90,334.40 depending on qualifications. Lateral pay determined by Police Chief.  to review our summary of benefits.

The Police Officer performs police patrol, investigation, traffic regulation, and related law enforcement activities.

• Must be 18 years or older at the time of employment
• Graduated from or planning to attend MCOLES-certified training academy
• Must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid State driver
  
  F's license
• No felony convictions and disqualifying criminal histories
• U.S. citizen
• Must be able to read and write the English language
• Must be of good moral character and of temperate and industrious habits
• Associates degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, public administration, or a related field with a bachelor's degree preferred
• Knowledge of modern law enforcement principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment
• Ability to learn the applicable laws, ordinances, and department rules and regulations; ability to perform work requiring good physical condition; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, peers, and supervisors; ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions; ability to follow verbal and written instructions; ability to meet the special requirements listed below;
