Job Summary

The Senior Biller performs a variety of duties to accomplish the billing and collection of all patient accounts.

Havenwyck Hospital is a Joint Commission-accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital, overlooking Lake Galloway in Auburn Hills, Michigan. We specialize in providing comprehensive, compassionate behavioral health services to children, adolescents and adults. It is the ultimate goal of our dedicated staff to build strength, confidence and knowledge within each patient, in hopes that they may continue learning and understanding their needs and practicing self-care for the rest of their lives.

Responsibilities
  • Input insurance information for patient admission.
  • Produces bills for third-party insurance/patient accounts.
  • Reconciles charges.
  • Follows up on all patient accounts/claims in a timely manner.
  • Input billing data utilizing the hospital's computer system.
  • Discusses insurance coverage with patients, doctors, and third-party carriers.
  • Sets up patient payment plans.
  • Handles correspondence from third party insurance.
  • Produces a month end summary of work completed on a monthly basis.
  • Performs the accounting clerk/data entry clerk job duties when required.
  • Assists team members and provides departmental orientation of new staff when needed.
  • Bills electronically via Waystar Revenue Cycle Management and Medicare DDE System.
  • Bills Medicare, Medicare Advantage, BCBS and Commercial carriers, providing necessary documentation for the claims to be processed.
  • Maintains accurate and detail notes for each accounts using Word and Excel documents.
  • Attends all hospital mandatory training/in-services as required.
  • Adheres to all hospital policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High school education of equivalent required.
  • Two to three years of accounting office experience in a hospital or health care setting required.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Working knowledge of third-party insurances, billing, and follow-up procedures, admitting, insurance verification and collections required.
