Candidates must meet U.S. person requirements (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or other protected individual). The position is expected to onboard at an American Rheinmetall location and transition into primarily being located in Warsaw, Poland, for an 18+ month assignment. Further position details will be provided during screening.

Job Summary

The Lead NDT inspector plays a dual role by performing advanced—level non‑destructive testing (NDT) inspections while providing leadership and direction to NDT team members on the shop floor. This position ensures compliance with industry codes, company standards, and customer specifications through hands‑on inspection, mentorship, and workflow coordination. The ideal candidate demonstrates technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to quality and safety.

Essential

Functions
  • Perform complex NDT inspections using methods such as MT, PT, UT, RT, and/or VT in accordance with established procedures and applicable codes.
  • Lead and mentor Level I and II NDT personnel, providing technical guidance, training, and support.
  • Act as a point of contact for floor‑level NDT‑related decisions, coordinating with production and quality teams to ensure timely inspections.
  • Interpret and evaluate results of inspections and generate clear, accurate reports and documentation.
  • Ensure all inspections comply with customer, industry, and internal standards (e.g., ASIVIE, ASTM, AWS, ISO).
  • Assist with the development, review, and revision of NDT procedures and techniques.
  • Monitor equipment condition and calibration status; initiate corrective action or maintenance as needed.
  • Support audits and customer visits by providing technical expertise and documentation as required.
  • Promote and enforce safety, quality, and continuous improvement practices throughout the NDT area.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and technical procedures.
  • Familiar with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, AWS).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead a team in a fast‑paced manufacturing or maintenance environment.
  • Absolute minimum experience a candidate must have to be considered for the job; these are the deal‑breakers.
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification:
    Level II or Level III in one or more NDT methods (ASNT, NAS 410, ISO 9712, or equivalent).
Experience
  • At least 7 years of hands‑on NDT inspection experience, with proven leadership or team coordination responsibilities.
Background Prerequisites
  • Must undergo and meet company Standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a working leader, team lead, or supervisory role within an NDT or quality team.
  • Cross‑certification in multiple NDT methods.
  • Working knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.).
  • Familiarity with digital reporting systems or NDT data management tools.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
  • Hands‑on, shop‑floor role requiring standing, lifting, and working in various industrial environments.
  • May involve shift work, overtime, or weekend coverage depending on production demands.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in all designated areas.
  • Physical requirements:

    Rarely, Occasionally, Frequently, or Continuously (as applicable).
