House Supervisor (RN) – Full Time Nights

Position Summary:
The House Supervisor (RN) is responsible for quality nursing care and overall supervision of nursing staff members for a particular hospital shift. They deliver nursing care for admissions, have a working knowledge of hospital policies and procedures, and initiate disciplinary action in the Clinical Manager’s absence.
- Use the nursing process to ensure appropriate delivery of nursing care.
- Have a working knowledge of the hospital’s administrative policies and procedures.
- Have a working knowledge of the nursing services policies and procedures.
- Adjust staffing as needed to ensure proper coverage according to designated staff/patient ratios in collaboration with Nurse Unit Manager.
- Replace staff persons who are scheduled but unable to work.
- Report and inform appropriate administrators of any issues that require follow‑up.
- Monitor and evaluate nursing care given, make rounds throughout the hospital, and provide supervision to staff nurses and psychiatric care specialists, including disciplinary action.
- Participate with the Nurse Unit Manager and other nursing managers in the development of therapeutic programs for the unit and particularly for the designated shift.
- Ensure auditing charts for completion, quality, and compliance with standards.
- Ensure that all admissions during the shift are handled appropriately, following admission policies and procedures.
- Assist/oversee restraints or use of seclusion in an emergency situation, notifying the patient’s physician for orders as soon as possible within guidelines.
- Direct activities in all emergency situations, including fire, internal and external disasters, and environmental hazards according to procedures.
- Review intake information as needed and collaborate with the Intake Referral Coordinator to ensure a timely referral process.
- Investigate unusual incidents or complaints from patients, personnel and other departments and report to the Assistant Chief Nursing Officer.
- Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing;
Bachelor’s degree preferred. - Current status as a registered nurse in the State of Michigan.
- Three to five years of psychiatric experience with one to two years of management experience.
- Current BLS/CPR certification, proficient in Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention.
