Volkswagen (VW) seeks an experienced Technical Lead to architect, develop, and guide the delivery of major data engineering initiatives. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership skills, mentoring cross‑functional teams.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and optimize scalable batch and streaming data pipelines using Python and PySpark.
- Build, schedule, and monitor complex workflows using Airflow, ensuring reliability and maintainability.
- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines leveraging Git Hub, Docker, and cloud‑native tools.
- Apply Test‑Driven Development (TDD) practices and automate unit and integration tests for data pipelines.
- Enforce secure coding standards and best practices across the development lifecycle.
- Partner with Data Architects, QA, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Maintain comprehensive system design documentation, including data and process flow diagrams.
- Lead a small engineering team and mentor junior developers on coding, testing, and deployment best practices.
- Diagnose and resolve issues across the data stack, including pipeline errors and performance bottlenecks.
- Cross‑train partner teams (e.g., operations support) to ensure coverage and continuity.
- 7+ years of overall IT experience, with proven experience as a Technical Lead.
- Strong hands‑on expertise in Python, PySpark, and Airflow.
- Experience designing CI/CD pipelines using Git Hub, Docker, and cloud‑native tools.
- Familiarity with enterprise platforms such as Open Shift, Cloudera, Tableau, Confluence, and Jira.
- Background in waterfall, iterative, and Agile development methodologies.
- Knowledge and application of Test‑Driven Development (TDD).
- Excellent leadership, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex data issues.
