Overview

The Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art at Auburn University seeks a TES Graphic Designer for a short-term project to produce a professionally designed report in both print and digital formats. The report will communicate key strategic outcomes to high-level stakeholders, so experience in visually presenting complex information with clarity and impact is essential. An existing version of the report will be provided as a reference, along with all necessary brand elements, imagery, and finalized copy.

The ideal designer will be able to work within established brand guidelines while bringing a fresh, polished visual approach that enhances readability and engagement. Familiarity with designing for executive or board-level audiences is a plus. The final deliverables will include a print-ready PDF and an accessible digital version optimized for screen viewing and distribution. This project has a tight turnaround, so strong communication skills and the ability to manage feedback efficiently are important.

The Jule

Accredited by the American Association of Museums and a member of the Association of Academic Museums and Galleries, The Jule stewards a renowned art collection of more than 3000 objects on behalf of Auburn University. Advancing research, outreach and instruction through its collections and programs in active and welcoming learning environments, the museum engages through exhibitions and hosting artists and scholars from across the nation to provide positive impacts for students and faculty.

Serving beyond the gallery walls, it also serves the state of Alabama through traveling art programming. The Jule will turn 25 in 2028. With that milestone, the museum is focused on raising funds to endow positions and programs, establish scholarships, acquire and conserve art, and provide adequate teaching space to further center its role within the intellectual life of Auburn University.

Essential

Functions
  • Serves as the lead creative and primary designer for marketing and communication materials.
  • Responsible for conceptualization and implementation of design solutions that meet marketing objectives, executing on the brand platform and developing creative systems.
  • Produces collateral to support marketing priorities, such as magazines, annual reports, brochures, direct mail, comprehensive fundraising campaigns, etc.
  • Supports digital marketing design integration.
  • Follows each job through its lifecycle to ensure an accurate and polished final product.
  • Interacts with clients to gain a strong understanding of marketing goals and objectives. Gives presentations that demonstrate how the design solution is meeting objectives.
  • Interfaces with printers throughout the entire production process.
  • Trains and directs student workers who develop design concepts into art layouts.



Note:

The Jule follows a non-traditional schedule. We are open to the public on Saturdays and major events occur in the evenings and/or weekends.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Graphic Arts, Visual Communication, or other visual art subject.
  • 5 years of design experience with increasing levels of responsibility

    University hours are M-F 7:45-4:45. Saturday and evening shifts can be expected.
