Position Summary InformationJob Description Summary
The Auburn University Social Work Program within the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level, with appointment beginning August 2026. Tenure will be earned in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work. The candidate’s primary appointment will be in the graduate program with some teaching responsibilities in the undergraduate program.
This position is in-person but may have options for occasional online teaching. The area of expertise is open, but the program is especially interested in candidates with a specialization in military social work, trauma-informed care, health, mental health, or child welfare. The teaching load is 3/2 across the Social Work curriculum with a reduced load for the first two years (2/2).
This is a full-time, 9-month appointment.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Social Work or a related field at the time employment begins, a MSW degree from a CSWE accredited program, and two years of professional practice experience.
Desired QualificationsSuccessful candidates will have a demonstrated ability to conduct scholarly research and publish in peer-reviewed venues, an active, well-articulated research agenda, the potential to secure external grant funding and a record of excellence in teaching commensurate with years of experience.
