Manufacturing Engineer II, Food Protection Responsibilities

  • Support the site team in ensuring safe operations and adherence to regulatory, site and Aptar requirements by utilizing leading indicator metrics (BBS, Safety Talk Calendar, required trainings, ERGO improvements and incident management at a minimum) to drive world class safety results and culture. JHA’s are up to date for all tasks.
  • Support the site team in ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the Food Protection sample development areas. Housekeeping expectations for Food Protection are defined, monitored, measured and records maintained). 5S is employed in the work spaces and must have on-going plans to demonstrate.
  • Develop and maintain Halopack file/drawing storage and naming system to ensure accurate version control and accessibility.
  • Manipulate and update Halopack technical files and drawings as required for production and engineering changes. This includes designing new trays with iterative optimization.
  • Manage Halopack board inventory, including tracking, ordering, and maintaining stock levels.
  • Create and execute Halopack board test procedures to validate material and product performance. Perform Cobb testing for moisture permeability.
  • Oversee lidding film inventory and ensure proper storage and usage in production.
  • Maintain tray sealer plate inventory and coordinate with production for timely replacements.
  • Develop and implement Invisi Shield testing procedures to ensure compliance with food safety and performance standards.
  • Provide operational support for Halopack SKR and GTR machines, including troubleshooting, setup, and optimization.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive process improvements and resolve technical issues. Potentially even cross training with Halopack EU.
  • Document and manage projects using structured methodologies (e.g., DMAIC) for continuous improvement.
  • Project Timeline Adherence:
    Complete assigned planning deliverables by agreed deadlines.
  • Risk Assessment Completion:
    Document and mitigate all identified technical risks before Phase II.
  • Requirements Accuracy:
    Ensure alignment of engineering inputs with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Design Review Participation:
    Attend and contribute to all scheduled design input reviews.
  • Drawing & File Management:
    Maintain compliance with Halopack file/drawing storage and naming protocols.
  • Prototype Readiness:
    Deliver initial prototypes within X days of design freeze.
  • Test Procedure Development:
    Complete Halopack board and Invisi Shield test protocols before verification start.
  • Verification Success Rate:
    Achieve ≥ 95% first‑pass success on verification tests.
  • Validation Execution:
    Complete validation activities within scheduled timelines.
  • Defect Identification:
    Document and work to resolve critical issues before design transfer.
  • Transfer design transfer package to operations
  • Training Completion:
    Conduct operator training sessions before production launch.
  • Travel for new design cuttings, collaboration with vendors, cross training and even customer machine installs
  • Champion Aptar’s commitment to sustainable packaging by supporting Halopack’s eco‑friendly design and material usage.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve recyclability in Halopack production processes.
  • Collaborate with R&D to implement innovative solutions that enhance product sustainability and operational efficiency.
Qualifications/Education/Special Skills
  • 4‑year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related discipline), Comparable relevant demonstrated proficiency is acceptable as well.
  • 5+ years experience in packaging technology, thermoforming, or food protection required
  • Familiarity with CAD software and technical drawing management.
  • Knowledge of inventory control systems and testing protocols.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, SAP, MES, Navigating Power BI reports and/or Minitab.
  • Green Belt certified or will be within 2 years of starting this position.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather and interpret data to identify trends, patterns and provide recommendations for forecast and action
  • Ability to multi‑task and manage multiple projects simultaneously
