Why This Business

Our client is an established North American producer of industrial minerals, supplying essential materials to manufacturing, construction and environmental markets. Its network of plants and distribution terminals creates substantial scope to improve freight efficiency, strengthen supply planning and influence investment decisions.

Key priorities
  • Lead truck, rail and barge logistics, improving delivery reliability and reducing freight costs through pricing, contract negotiations and vendor management.
  • Manage sales and operations planning, aligning production, inventory and distribution with customer demand.
  • Evaluate network improvements and capacity investments, working with sales, operations and finance to strengthen margins and service.
  • Lead and develop shipping and logistics teams, improving systems, performance and coordination with customer service.
The expertise you’ll need
  • Around 6-10 years of progressive supply chain experience, ideally within heavy manufacturing, bulk materials, chemicals, cement, construction or mining.
  • Experience across truck, rail and barge transport, with a track record in freight negotiations, planning and cost improvement.
  • Proven team leadership and analytical skills, with strong Excel and ERP experience; SAP/BW knowledge would be beneficial.
  • A degree in supply chain, logistics, business, finance, engineering or a related discipline is preferred, although equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
