POSITION/TITLE:
Quality Engineer
DEPARTMENT:
Quality Management
The Quality Engineer position works directly with the Quality Manager to support the advancement of our quality programs.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and maintain production procedures and processes to ensure effectiveness and efficiency
- Interface with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality assurance and assure that effective corrective action is implemented, including conducting internal and external audits as needed
- Establish safety processes, requirements and culture
- Promote and execute quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology (destructive/non-destructive), quality plans, documents and reports
- Serve as the primary quality resource for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement (both internal and external)
- Support the TS16949 certification process and maintaining Quality System
- Develop, execute, and analyze quality-reporting measures. Report to management on quality issues, trends and losses
- Manage supplier performance and conduct audits
- Support Quality Management in APQP (PFMEA and control plan development, MSA testing, and PPAP submission)
- Supervise and train quality and production staff on both Quality and Safety requirements Responsible and has authority to take action to ensure that the Quality of the product meets or exceeds the customer's expectations
- Proxy for Quality Manager as needed
- Other duties as assigned by Quality Manager
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred
Minimum of 3 years of automotive industry experience in a quality related role
CMM, Tensile Tester, Calipers, etc. experience required
Experience with TS16949/ISO 14001 preferred
Knowledge of General OSHA Standards
Ability to frequently lift objects up to 50 lbs.
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Ability to facilitate a team and work independently if needed
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand or sit
Exposure to plant environment, including elements such as noise, dust, heat, or cold
