Job Summary
The RFID Lab at Auburn University is looking for motivated, hard-working, and detail oriented students from various disciplines to perform RFID testing and analysis.
The student is expected to conduct research and testing for the lab’s projects pertaining to LANL, which includes both running tests and processing the data gathered.
Position is not eligible for Fall 2025 assistantship, but may be for future semesters.
Essential Functions
- The student is expected to contribute to and design test procedures, work independently on test procedures under strict deadlines, create documentation, and work physically on experiments.
- Perform data collection and data analysis to investigate the performance of large scale RFID deployments.
- Operate, maintain and trouble-shoot RF test equipment.

Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled as an Auburn University graduate student in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a similar field
- Strong technical background in one or more of the following areas: signal processing, advanced data analysis, statistics, and machine learning – Experience in safe laboratory procedures.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Laboratory experience demonstrating attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite products.
- Has an interest in working with Los Alamos National Laboratory Expectations:
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
- Excellent written communication
- Technically capable with ability to quickly become familiar with hardware, software, processes and new technologies is a plus
- Basic Knowledge of RF systems and computer networks is a plus
- Experience with Linux – Knows C++ and Python
- Knowledge of basic principles in one or more of the following: chemical synthesis, spectroscopy, engineering (nuclear, electrical, or mechanical), materials chemistry, and/or radiological materials.
- Experience in ADS, ANSYS, Remcom, or other similar simulation software.
- Experience with hand tools
