Accounting Intern

Sunbelt Asphalt DBA The Scruggs Company is seeking an ambitious and detail-oriented Accounting Intern for Summer 2027 to join our Finance team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced construction environment while learning the financial operations of a growing asphalt construction company. Working alongside experienced professionals, the intern will support accounting and administrative processes, contribute to meaningful projects, and gain valuable insight into how finance drives business success.

The Accounting Intern will assist with day‑to‑day accounting activities, recordkeeping, reporting, and special projects while developing practical skills in accounting and business operations. This role is ideal for a student pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field who is eager to apply classroom knowledge in a professional setting, expand their skillset, and explore the many career opportunities available within our organization.

Through mentorship and cross‑functional exposure, interns will gain a strong foundation for a successful career in accounting, finance, or business management.

• Assist with administrative and accounting tasks to support the Finance Department.
• Help maintain accurate financial records and organize accounting documentation.
• Support invoice processing, data entry, and filing of financial records.
• Assist with project‑related accounting and job cost documentation.
• Review records for completeness and accuracy.
• Help prepare reports, spreadsheets, and other financial documents as needed.
• Assist with internal audits and recordkeeping processes.
• Collaborate with team members across departments on special projects.
• Maintain confidentiality of company and employee information.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple assignments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
