CDL Driver: Stockpile Truck

Sunbelt Asphalt Surfaces, Inc. is seeking an experienced CDL Stockpile Truck Driver to join our Logistics Fleet. The successful candidate will perform duties to drive a tractor and tandem or triaxle dump trailer for the purpose of transporting asphalt mix materials to Asphalt Plant and/or jobsite; and to perform various tasks needed in the safest and most expedient manner.

• Maintain valid CDL & Current DOT Medical Card
• Perform pre-trip inspection which includes (but is not limited to): checking oil, water, fuel, tires and lights on tractor trailer each morning prior to starting the day’s activities. Must report any problems or malfunctions to supervisor.
• Receive job assignment from supervisor or dispatcher. Drive to specified area to pick up material such as asphalt, fill dirt, stock sand, stone, etc. to be delivered to Asphalt Plant/job site. Monitor the loading of material onto the truck to ensure even distribution and proper weight is maintained. Thoroughly cover and secure the load prior to transporting.
• The ability to load and transport material to the appointed destination in a safe and efficient manner. Comply with all company, DOT, Federal, State, and local safety regulations.
• The ability to complete a trip ticket for each move made or keep receipt for materials hauled and turn tickets in to supervisor.
• The ability to complete the daily DOT log book and turn in as required to supervisor or dispatcher. Complete and turn in other required forms and reports to supervisor or dispatcher.
• The ability to perform minor maintenance and repairs to truck such as painting, washing, cleaning, etc.
• The ability to assist crew you were assigned to work with, in the performance of various laborious work, when truck is not needed or in use.
• Follow all safety rules and company policies and procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Maintain professional conduct at all times.
• Complete all assigned Learning Management System Initiatives.

• Over one year and up to three years to become familiar with the safe and proper operation of tractor and dump body trailer; hauling materials, backing up to material stockpiles; working next to heavy equipment; dumping on various subgrades and inclines.
• Use of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of numbers including decimals and fractions is required. Check reports, forms, records and comparable data, where interpretation is required.

Use of some judgment to comply with instructions or prescribed routines, methods or practices involving the making of minor decisions.

• Position requires the ability to climb in and out of truck and on and off tanker as required. The position requires the ability to grasp, push and pull levers and to operate foot pedals. Such physical activity to operate control levers is repetitive in motion of the wrist, hands and fingers.
• Position requires ability to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word in English and the ability to perceive sounds and receive detailed information through oral communications and to make fine discrimination in equipment noises which may indicate mechanical problems.
• Moderate physical effort required to operate truck and get water. Occasional lifting of light weight material up to 25 pounds with rarely lifting or moving heavy weight material over 60 pounds. Position would require the ability to lift 60-pound material.

  Federal and State laws require driver to pass a DOT physical. The physical does exclude some handicaps and does require applicant to pass a NIDA Drug Screen.
