Job Summary
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) provides patient care under the supervision of a medical provider, supporting clinical and administrative functions, assisting with procedures, maintaining exam rooms, managing patient intake, and ensuring efficient clinic operations.
Essential Functions
- Assist providers with clinical procedures like vital signs, wound care, injections, phlebotomy, vaccines, urine tests, EKGs, and splints.
- Prepare and clean exam rooms.
- Perform patient intake duties, report test results, conduct phone triage, and document medical information.
- Maintain logs and documentation.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling, referrals, insurance verification, and communication.
- Provide prompt, courteous service to providers, patients, and visitors.
- Manage clinic supplies and equipment.
- Educate patients on medications and health topics.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Follow all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- 0-1 years of experience in a medical setting or externship required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of medical procedures and patient care techniques.
- Proficiency in medical records, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite.
- Understanding of medical terminology and infection control.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Good time management and organization.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Ability to perform age-specific care.
Licenses and Certifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)-AAMA or
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)-NCTT.
- BCLS certification from AHA, ARC, or ASHI.
