Job Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) provides patient care under the supervision of a medical provider, supporting clinical and administrative functions, assisting with procedures, maintaining exam rooms, managing patient intake, and ensuring efficient clinic operations.

Essential Functions

  • Assist providers with clinical procedures like vital signs, wound care, injections, phlebotomy, vaccines, urine tests, EKGs, and splints.
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms.
  • Perform patient intake duties, report test results, conduct phone triage, and document medical information.
  • Maintain logs and documentation.
  • Support administrative tasks such as scheduling, referrals, insurance verification, and communication.
  • Provide prompt, courteous service to providers, patients, and visitors.
  • Manage clinic supplies and equipment.
  • Educate patients on medications and health topics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Follow all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • 0-1 years of experience in a medical setting or externship required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of medical procedures and patient care techniques.
  • Proficiency in medical records, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite.
  • Understanding of medical terminology and infection control.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Good time management and organization.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to perform age-specific care.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)-AAMA or
  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)-NCTT.
  • BCLS certification from AHA, ARC, or ASHI.
