Are you passionate about welding and eager to share your expertise with the next generation of skilled professionals? The New England School of Metalwork (NESM), a division of Maine Oxy, is seeking a dynamic and motivated Welding Instructor to join our team. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to shape careers, collaborate with industry partners, and bring your real-world welding experience into the classroom and shop.

What You’ll Do

As a Welding Instructor, you’ll guide students through hands-on training and classroom instruction across multiple welding processes. You’ll help ensure our program stays top-notch by maintaining equipment, supporting program improvements, and adapting lessons to meet the needs of both students and industry partners.

Your impact will include:

  • Teaching day classes in SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, and Oxy Fuel welding.
  • Leading classroom lectures and technical presentations.
  • Supervising high school morning classes and one-monthly one-day Saturday training courses.
  • Keeping our welding lab and equipment in excellent condition.
  • Collaborating with the Welding Program Manager to deliver custom training programs for companies and students.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re searching for an instructor who brings not only technical expertise but also enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring.

Required qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of professional welding experience using SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, and Oxy Fuel.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with students, colleagues, and industry partners.
  • Ability to adapt to day-to-day challenges and maintain a safe, organized learning environment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Current welding certifications.
  • Knowledge of AWS and ASME codes.
  • Familiarity with CWI accreditation.

Compensation: The starting salary range of this exempt position will be between $50,000–$56,000 per year
. The exact offer will depend on the experience and skills you bring to the position. Candidates should keep in mind that offers near the top of the salary range are reserved for professionals with expert-level, directly relevant experience.
