The Maine Mental Health Community Based Programs are serving individuals at several locations in the greater Auburn and Waterville areas. The Community Based Programs provide intensive case management to adults with mental illness and substance use that often experience homelessness.
Position OverviewThe Assistant Program Manager is responsible for the identification, assessment, referral, and evaluation of individual services. This role supports the mission of Ascentria Care Alliance by ensuring that all work activities are conducted within the policies and standards established by the organization. The role also involves monitoring health and safety in independent living environments, advocating for client rights, and encouraging self‑advocacy.
Additional responsibilities include coaching clients in developing skills for independence, overseeing staff supervision and development, and handling some direct support, intakes, and documentation submissions. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a Human Services related field preferred.
- MHRT‑C (Mental Health Rehabilitation Technician - Community) certification.
- Supervisory experience.
- Ability to make well‑reasoned decisions both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including email, word processing, and internet. Ability to learn software required for documentation.
- Ability to travel regularly between office locations as needed.
- Valid State‑issued driver’s license and proof of current insurance.
- MHRT‑C certification, covering domains such as Behavioral, Psychological, and Rehabilitation Intervention Models, Community Integration, Trauma and Resiliency, Cultural Competency, and Vocational Support.
- Maintain required certifications per agency policies and state regulations.
