As a result of continued growth, we are actively looking to add a Fire Alarm Service Manager to our team in Auburn, ME. The Fire Alarm Service Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, operational efficiency, and compliance of the fire alarm service division. This position directs daily service operations, ensures adherence to regulatory requirements and standards, manages personnel, and maintains client satisfaction through timely and quality service delivery.
This position resides mostly in the office with some time in the field. Fieldwork may involve exposure to varying environmental conditions, including heights, confined spaces, and moderate noise. Compliance with all company and industry safety policies is mandatory. The Fire Alarm Service Manager will play a critical role in business development, operational oversight, and technical expertise, ensuring that all departmental objectives align with the company’s mission and standards for safety.
- Ensure all installations, service, and maintenance activities comply with NFPA 72, UL standards, local fire codes, and manufacturer specifications.
- Provide expert troubleshooting and technical solutions for complex fire alarm system issues.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of all service activities.
- Manage departmental budgets, monitor expenditures, and track profitability.
- Review service KPIs, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for growth, including preventive maintenance, system enhancements and upgrades.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding service operations.
- Respond promptly to inquiries, resolve service issues, and provide technical explanations as required.
- Support sales and account management teams with technical input for service agreements, proposals, and system upgrades.
- Plan, organize, and direct the activities of the fire alarm service department, including service calls, inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs.
- Develop and maintain department schedules to ensure timely completion of work orders.
- Monitor and evaluate service operations for efficiency, quality, and compliance.
Physical Requirements
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in fire alarm installation, service, or inspection.
- Minimum two (2) years in a supervisory or management capacity within the fire/life safety industry.
- Demonstrated expertise in NFPA 72 standards, UL requirements, and applicable local fire codes.
- Proven ability to manage multiple service projects simultaneously.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in varied field environments, including commercial, industrial, and institutional sites.
- Willingness to travel within assigned service area for site visits.
- Strong leadership, team‑building, and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional problem‑solving abilities with proficiency in troubleshooting various fire alarm systems (e.g., Siemens, Edwards, Kidde, Etc).
- Proficiency in service management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Solid budgeting, financial tracking, and KPI monitoring skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to shifting priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- High school diploma or GED required;
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline preferred. - NICET Level II or greater in Fire Alarm Systems (or equivalent certification) strongly preferred.
