Position Overview

The Senior Accountant position plays a pivotal role not only within the Zones Accounting team but also as a key, collaborative partner with sales and operations. As the Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for a variety of accounting responsibilities including timely and accurate recording of business activity in accordance with GAAP, planning month‑end/quarter‑end journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, financial analysis, audit support and financial reporting.

Identify and implement process improvements that increase accuracy and efficiency. Identify trends or issues that require management's attention; demonstrate ability to understand broad business and financial issues. Concise communication skills are key – written and verbal.

The role is required to be onsite at the HQ 1 minimum of Tuesday and Thursday each week, with additional time onsite as required.

What you'll do as the Senior Accountant

  • Complete month‑end journal entries, analyses and account reconciliations as assigned
  • Oversee/lead operational processes and partner with the business to streamline
  • Partner cross‑functionally to clearly communicate accounting operations with other departments to ensure operational excellence
  • Perform a high volume, deadline‑driven role, reporting in line with the group timetable
  • Participate in revenue accounting process by ensuring proper revenue and cost recognition in accordance with GAAP
  • Identify and propose changes to inefficient or ineffective internal policies and procedures
  • Provide insightful analysis and understanding of performance monthly for both finance and operations leadership teams
  • Assist and comply with external auditing and reporting requirements, preparing necessary documentation
  • Function as a utility player for special projects and ad‑hoc requests
What you will bring to the team
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Accounting or Finance with emphasis on preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Conceptual and practical understanding of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
  • Self‑starter with a problem‑solving, "Can Do" mentality
  • Team player with amazing verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability and desire to adapt quickly to change
  • Good analytical skills and critical thinking required
  • Detail oriented with good organization and time management skills
  • Revenue and/or cost accounting experience (preferred)
  • CPA or CPA eligible (preferred)
  • Ability to reconcile complex general ledger account, journal entries and financial statement analysis (GAAP knowledge and accounting research skills a plus)
