Overview
The City of Auburn Administration department has an opportunity for a Communications Assistant to join our team. This position plays a critical role as the final step in delivering communications materials across the City of Auburn. It is a hands-on, dynamic role where duties vary daily, from cutting and mounting posters or preparing materials for events to finishing banners or coordinating high-volume mailings.
The role blends creativity, technical work, and customer service, with opportunities to see your work used and displayed throughout the community. You will work closely with the Communications Division to ensure materials are delivered on time and to provide essential administrative support that keeps City communications running smoothly.

Responsibilities- Support and maintain efficient print shop operations from job intake through final production and delivery.
- Perform routine and special mailing services, including bulk mail processing, shipping, and parcel delivery coordination.
- Maintain organization, inventory, and stocking of print shop and Communications Division supplies.
- Keep accurate records for communications services, including work orders, billing, and cost tracking.
- Assist with quotes, contracts, and coordination of outsourced commercial print services.
- Provide backup support across the Communications Division to ensure timely customer service and continuity of operations.

- Graduation from high school, or equivalent, plus six (6) months of relevant work-related experience.
- A valid Washington State driver’s license without impending loss at time of appointment.
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suites products.
You will perform your work under general supervision of the Communications Manager and in accordance with established procedures. Recommendations for change, unusual situations, or major problems are discussed with the manager. Work is checked periodically to ensure compliance with operating procedures and completion within the time specified. Performance is reviewed through periodic reports and biannual check-ins.
