Role Overview

The Lead Clinician / Clinical Supervisor 1 oversees the quality of clinical services being provided by Valley Cities’ Agency Affiliated Counselors (AACs) and interns. Oversight involves offering clinical skills training and reviewing clinical work by means of chart audits, direct observation, and consultation. Supervision will be provided to individuals and groups, in accordance with WAC requirements, academic degree programs, and areas of specialty.

Supervisors will be equipped to adhere to Valley Cities’ supervision policies, standards, and processes. This position includes providing regular training to new hires and current staff on routine clinical tasks such as treatment planning, concurrent documentation, and writing case management notes. This training will be conducted regularly to support efficient onboarding of new team members. This position will involve collaborating with site and program managers to evaluate and support staff performance and development.

Clinical Supervisors are expected to maintain documentation of services and will receive oversight into the quality of supervision provided. This is a full-time position (1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week) that includes approximately 8 hours (.20 FTE) dedicated to supervisory duties. The remaining 32 hours (.80 FTE) are primarily focused on maintaining a client caseload, with around 60% of that time allocated to direct client services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide regularly scheduled individual group supervision in identified areas of expertise and clinical specialty.
  • Assist supervises' in developing Supervision Plans, to include identifying and working toward professional goals.
  • Directly observe supervises' clinical service provision and provide feedback.
  • Review supervises’ charts and documentation to ensure chart completion, accuracy, and alignment with state, county, and payor guidelines, and measure appropriateness of services provided. Utilize data to recommend necessary improvements.
  • Provide case consultation to include treatment planning, assessment, recommending clinical interventions, offering resources, and reporting safety concerns.
  • Complete Core Competency evaluations for new staff.
  • Collaborate with site and program managers to complete employee Performance Evaluations and address concerns.
  • Advise on mandatory reporting decisions and ensure that safety concerns are appropriately reported and documented.
  • Conduct staff training on routine clinical tasks such as treatment planning, concurrent documentation, and writing case management notes.
  • Attend WAC-Approved Supervisor training with 6 months of hire (expenses covered by agency).
  • Attend clinical supervision consult meetings
  • Support supervises' in maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and prioritizing self-care.
What We’re Looking For

Education:

Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work or related field.

Washington state independent clinical licensure (e.g., LMHC, LMFT, LICSW, etc.).

Experience:

  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of clinical care standards in the treatment of adults, children, and families facing multiple barriers (abuse, neglect, domestic violence, chemical dependency, poverty, etc.).
  • Knowledge of DSM-5-TR.
  • Demonstrated expertise and sufficient training in area of specialty (LMHC, LMFT, LICSW, etc.).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Evidence-Based Practices.
  • Experience working directly with clients in mental/behavioral health, social work, or medical settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of professionals and a diverse population.
