We offer a 4‑year apprenticeship program – 8,000 hours of paid on‑the‑job training and 144 unpaid classroom hours each year – beginning with a 20% probationary period. Apprentices progress to higher wage steps every 1,000 hours recorded. Upon graduation, apprentices are placed in the target job at the maximum rate and receive a journey‑worker certificate and globally recognized card.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain daily work assignments and review work orders and blueprints.
  • Inspect cleaning, sealant application, protective coatings, and leak detection on integral fuel cells.
  • Perform and witness leak checks to determine source and repair extent.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to improve build processes and defect reduction.
  • Document nonconforming materials and assemblies per specifications.
  • Conduct audits and surveillance of manufacturing and QA processes.
  • Use precision instruments and shop math to verify parts and assemblies meet requirements.
  • Review manufacturing plans for completeness and compliance.
  • Inspect mockups of design changes to ensure specification adherence.
  • Perform line checks for rejectable conditions on assemblies or airplanes.
  • Indicate QA acceptance by stamping paperwork and processing records.
  • Determine if re‑inspection is required based on customer or FAA criteria.
  • Work with engineering and FAA on red‑label equipment segregation.
  • Report discrepancies to appropriate personnel.
  • Assist in training lower‑grade inspectors.
Physical Demands & Hazards
  • Lifting weights 10–35 lbs; reaching, turning, bending, kneeling, squatting, etc.
  • Exposure to metals, solvents, coolants; moving parts and tools; sharp cutters; slipping hazards.
  • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.
  • Use personal protective equipment to protect face, hands, and feet.
Qualification & Requirements
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience applying math skills (algebra, geometry, trigonometry).
  • Experience reading engineering blueprints/drawings.
  • Experience with precision measuring tools.
  • Experience with composites.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Visual acuity and color perception passing tests.
  • Proof of completion of Intermediate Algebra or higher‑level math within last 5 years.
  • Completion of an English 90 course or assessment with grade C or better.

Additional Information

Relocation assistance is not provided; candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
The position is governed by the IAM Collective Bargaining Agreement and is hourly.
Boeing is a Drug‑Free Workplace; testing applies as per policies.

Shift: 1st shift, may require training on other shifts.
Position requires US Person status per export controls (US citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).

Pay: $46.60/hour, with potential to earn up to $62.45/hour in accordance with the relevant collective bargaining agreement.
