Raymond West is looking for a dynamic Shop Battery Technician to join the Service team. The Shop Battery Technician is responsible for planning and coordinating activities concerned with installing equipment, investigating, and resolving reports of technical problems with equipment, and eliminating future operational or service difficulties by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities- Evaluate, diagnose, and repair equipment.
- When needed, remove cells and inspect parts to detect defects.
- Replace defective parts, reassemble battery, and fuse lead parts.
- Check specific gravity levels to ensure proper electrolyte levels. Adjust as needed.
- Wash, clean, and neutralize customer’s batteries.
- When assistance is needed, install new or modified equipment at customer’s facility to ensure full functionality according to specifications in support of field operations.
- Troubleshoot and repair chargers.
- Maintain records of performance reports.
- Adhere to Hazardous Compliance regulations for disposing and storing of hazardous materials.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and similar software.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Must be able to maintain effective working relationships with employees, co-workers, and managers in other departments.
- Must be willing to work off-hours as needed and assume more responsibility as required.
- Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Experience with hand and power tools.
- Able to read and comprehend manuals, procedures, and other written documents in English.
- Able to solve simple formulas and perform basic math.
- Able and willing to travel to customer sites and operate a forklift truck.
- Must be able to do overnight travel.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record acceptable to Raymond West.
- Basic electrical understanding and ability to read schematics.
- Ability to quickly analyze situations and provide immediate feedback to the customer.
- Functions without direct supervision.
- A high school diploma or equivalent; or industry-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Position is non-sedentary.
- Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts; travel to job sites may be required.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
- Possible exposure to outside weather conditions, electrical hazards, fumes, and chemicals.
- Noise levels may be loud.
- The hourly range for this position is $21.40 - $52.40. The specific pay offered may be influenced by factors including experience, education, and location.
Qualified candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
