PositionThe Commercial Refrigeration Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial refrigeration systems. Under the guidance of the Area Service Manager (ASM), the technician will handle routine service, warranty work, and emergency repairs, ensuring systems meet industry standards.
Responsibilities- Provide the highest level of customer service, technical ability, and quality to our customers.
- Installs, maintains, and repairs most standard refrigeration units for commercial customers (such as reach-in coolers and freezers, beverage dispensers, walk-in coolers and freezers, and rack units).
- Diagnose and repair electronic, mechanical, and electrical components of commercial refrigeration systems.
- Travel to job sites in assigned service area and coordinate with Dispatcher(s) to ensure schedules are maintained and delays are communicated to customers.
- Available to work nights and weekends on a rotating basis to address emergency service needs.
- Maintain the company vehicle and keep it clean and organized.
- Maintain proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment, including documentation of make, model, serial number, fuel type, and photos as necessary.
- Document services and parts provided to customers electronically through company devices.
- Diagnose service issues, obtain replacement parts, calibrate systems per manufacturer specifications, and communicate issues and solutions to the client.
- Participate in company-provided training and adhere to safety policies and procedures.
- Identify and report potential opportunities for additional business to management.
- Follow environmental regulations, including refrigerant handling and EPA guidelines.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Communicate effectively, with excellent verbal and written skills and strong interpersonal abilities.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical systems; read schematics and use diagnostic tools and refrigerant recovery equipment.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team; dependable and committed to quality.
- Maintain willingness to travel to assigned client sites and to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
- EPA Certification and any specific Industry Certification/License requirements;
High school diploma or equivalent; 2+ years HVAC/R field experience; valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of recent HVAC/R technician field experience.
- EPA Certification; specific industry certification/license as required.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
