The primary objectives of the Dock and Door Technician are to proficiently repair and service customers’ equipment, maintain excellent communication and relationships, represent and sell the entire company, stay profitable with direct labor billing, and adhere to all safety guidelines established by Raymond West and OSHA.

Responsibilities
  • Repair all types of Dock and Door equipment that Raymond West sells and services.
  • Update training and skills on a continuing basis.
  • Train other employees as needed.
  • Maintain a profitable billing level.
  • Follow all Service Department procedures.
  • Communicate with assigned Service leadership.
  • Complete all paperwork transactions in a timely, neat, accurate and orderly fashion.
  • Communicate all options to customers before proceeding with work.
  • Have the necessary tools to perform repair and scheduled service work.
  • Complete jobs within quoted time limits when applicable.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle.
  • Maintain an accurate parts inventory, if applicable.
  • Represent the entire company at all times.
  • Pass Raymond Certification and re‑certification if applicable.
  • Maintain good working knowledge of customers and equipment in assigned areas.
  • Maintain an acceptable driving record as established by the company’s insurance carrier.
  • Report accidents, whether self or customer.
  • Account for 100% of available time during working hours.
  • Work overtime when necessary and coordinate with supervisors.
  • Follow all procedures in the company’s Employee Handbook.
  • Follow safety procedures and use good judgment regarding safety.
  • Work out of town as necessary.
  • Establish a positive rapport with customers.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned by Service Supervisors or Managers.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals

  • Raymond Level 1 Certified or working toward it
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable points
  • Maintain personally owned tools according to the approved minimum tool list
  • Follow directions and be a team player
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems and mechanical abilities
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance
  • Quick learner and accurate with flexibility
  • Motivation for continuous self‑development and training
Education / Experience
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of breakdown experience or comparable service experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Travel Requirement
  • Position is in the field and requires daily travel within assigned territories.
  • Technicians are provided a company vehicle and fuel card.
  • Must be insured by Raymond West.
Physical Requirements
  • Non‑sedentary position.
  • Requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision.
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and job‑site conditions.
  • Must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and maneuver up to 125 pounds with assistance.
