Overview
Bowling - Ratio Coach - Girls - High School at Federal Way Public Schools. This position is generated due to an increase in student participation and is for the current season only. Any coaches hired due to student/coach ratios must reapply each year as positions become available. Pay is based on the current year Assistant Coach Salary schedule.
Position SummaryHigh school assistant coaches work with the head coach to ensure the growth and development of student athletes by focusing on fundamental skills instruction with an emphasis on whole child development, including expectations for academic and athletic excellence, leadership skills, and positive social relationships.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- General:
Professional development and leadership; rules and regulations; program promotion; program organization; standard of care; professionalism; sportsmanship and ethics. - Administrative:
Supervision; presentation of rules/regulations; attention to eligibility; accident/injury procedures; media contact; meeting attendance; post-season coordination; facility and equipment responsibility; violations/ejections reporting; coach evaluation; program leadership with regular meetings with the head coach. - Financial and Equipment:
Equipment, supplies, and inventory management; program purchases; fundraising activities with approvals. - Other responsibilities:
Perform related duties as needed to support student learning objectives. The preceding list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent. Prior sport-specific playing and/or coaching experience in a secondary/post-secondary athletics program or related club coaching experience. Proven training in drills, safety factors, and proper application of skills.
Additional RequirementsWork scheduled hours on a consistent basis.
Preferred QualificationsTwo or more years of paid high school and/or post-secondary sport-specific coaching experience and/or related club coaching experience. Completion of the National Federation Coaching Fundamentals Course (including the test).
Condition Of Employment19 years of age or older (per WIAA regulations); criminal background clearance;
First Aid and CPR certification (hands-on);
Online Concussion Training (CT).
Note:
Individuals may submit an application prior to completing FA/CPR/CT Training.
Knowledge of league and WIAA rules; NFHS sport-specific rules; record keeping and report preparation; school board policies and procedures. Ability to organize, administer, and oversee a sport-specific athletics program; comply with policies; work independently with attention to detail; communicate effectively; promote safety; develop positive relationships; and work collaboratively with District staff.

Physical DemandsRegularly sit, stand, and walk; use hands; lift/move up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally; vision requirements.
Work EnvironmentIndoor work with varied heights and surfaces; noise level usually moderate to loud.
Work ScheduleVaries; work days depend on the specific sport schedule.
Reporting RelationshipPosition reports to and is evaluated by the Building Athletic Director.
Representation and CompensationFederal Way Education Association represents Federal Way School Coaches. Salary schedule follows the Federal Way Education Association guidelines.
