As an Applebee’s® Team Lead/Key Hourly, you will be engaged in all aspects of the day‑to‑day operations at the restaurant. You are responsible for getting guests and staff excited about their experience every day. This role requires strong leadership, problem‑solving, communication, and the ability to handle stress while creating a positive atmosphere.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensures prompt, friendly service according to company guidelines.
  • Fosters a culture in accordance with Flynn – Applebee’s Premier Card of Values and Beliefs.
  • Ensures product preparation and presentation meet company standards.
  • Receives product to identify freshness and ensure invoice accuracy.
  • Refers all verbal and guest complaints to the MOD.
  • Corrects unsafe practices or conditions.
  • Promotes restaurant organization, cleanliness and sanitation.
  • Advises MOD of any non‑routine situations.
  • Completes all assignments promptly and properly.
  • Communicates with managers daily through log and shift change meetings.
  • Completes all other assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates proper execution of training systems as outlined by the company.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, practices and procedures.
  • Acts as coach to all employees.
  • Maintains and controls the assets of the company and complies with cash handling procedures.
  • Ensures that unit keys are administered per shift and remain in the unit.
  • Assists the management team with line checks and other daily control duties.
  • Develops goals and action plans for personal and professional growth.
  • Provides a role model for employees and encourages a passion for service.
  • Exhibits a professional image.
  • Learns all employee‑training programs.
  • Assesses employee effectiveness and provides motivational feedback.
  • Identifies poor performance and communicates opportunities for improvement.
  • Identifies limits of authority.
  • Mixes ingredients for alcoholic and non‑alcoholic beverages.
  • Creates a friendly, upbeat atmosphere for bar guests.
  • Serves food and drinks to bar guests.
  • Completes assigned opening and closing side work.
  • Slices fruit and vegetable garnishes.
  • Presents guest checks to bar patrons and processes payment transactions.
  • Processes employee and/or manager food orders and relays orders to kitchen via POS.
Education and Experience
  • Reading, writing, basic math and verbal communication skills.
  • Clear speaking and listening abilities.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to use POS and Back Office systems.
  • Certified trainer in FOH or BOH positions.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to meet scheduled shifts.
  • Displays leadership qualities among hourly employees.
  • Approval from District Manager/Market President.

Required Abilities and Physical Standards
  • Mobility required throughout the shift; able to stand and move for up to four hours.
  • Capability to use knives, slicing equipment, and other food preparation tools.
  • Ability to safely reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work on wet floors, in temperature extremes, and with loud noise.
  • Responsiveness to emergency situations.
  • Ability to work an entire shift, excluding legally mandated breaks.
  • Finger and hand dexterity for small tools.
