Job Summary

The Grants and Contracts Officer assists principal investigators, project managers, and faculty members by providing expertise on proposal development, budgeting, subcontract negotiations, and compliance with state, federal, and sponsoring agency regulations. This role serves as a source of information on funding opportunities and liaises between investigators, administrators, and agency officials.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure proposals meet sponsor and institutional requirements prior to submission and review budgets, cost-sharing commitments, and institutional approvals.
  • Submit proposals through sponsor portals (e.g., Grants.gov, NSF research.gov, NIH eRA Commons).
  • Review and negotiate award terms and conditions, ensuring compliance with sponsor regulations (e.g., 2 CFR 200) and institutional policies.
  • Facilitate execution of award agreements and subawards; coordinate changes to scope, PI effort, and key personnel.
  • Coordinate progress report submissions, ensure timely completion of milestones, and assist with final project closeout requirements.
  • Provide one‑on‑one training for faculty and staff on proposal development, compliance, and award management.
  • Maintain portfolio databases, perform self‑audits of grant records, and correct errors or inconsistencies.
  • Perform all other job‑related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus a minimum of two years of related experience, or an Associate degree plus at least five years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in public administration or a biomedical field; experience in preparing/reviewing biomedical grant proposals, administering awarded programs including close‑out, and knowledge of federal regulations governing research at a not‑for‑profit educational institution.

Shift / Salary / Benefits

Shift: Days – Monday to Friday (outside normal hours may be required). Salary range: $52,500–$57,200 (commensurate with qualifications). The position is funded through external sources; continued employment depends on funding availability. Recruitment period:
Until Filled.

Benefits:

Conditions of Employment

Successful completion of a background check and, if applicable, a credit check for positions of trust. Motor‑vehicle reports required for driving duties.
