Construction Administrator - Augusta at McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture
Job Type:

The firm comprises about 300 employees and maintains a boutique firm atmosphere.
Construction Administration
- Assist team with construction administration activities on projects.
- Read, interpret, and understand plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Understand terms and conditions of owner‑architect agreement, owner‑GC, and CM contract requirements.
- Communicate with project architects, other Construction Administrators, and consultants to resolve project issues timely and well‑organised.
- Perform quality control throughout the project life cycle.
- Participate in mandatory monthly CA meetings and other periodic meetings.
- Assist in maintaining MPS record set documents: filing, organization, updates, RFIs, etc.
- Monitor construction documents and recurring client standards compliance.
- Assist with issuance of document revisions and file for record keeping.
- Process shop drawings and submittals promptly to allow adequate review time.
- Travel to project sites for site visits and meetings.
- Prepare field observation reports with photographs to document each visit.
- Attend owner‑architect‑construction meetings and record accurate minutes.
- Assist in closing action items from OAC meetings.
- Serve as liaison between owner(s) and contractor(s).
- Assist with generation and issuance of punch‑lists.
- Receive, review, and distribute third‑party and special inspections test reports; record deficiencies for tracking correction.
Pre‑Construction / Design
- Perform field verification of existing conditions alone or with architects and other CAs.
- Assist with pre‑construction specification and drawing quality control and constructability reviews for “for construction” documents.
- Identify engineering coordination issues, unclear or absent information, code compliance concerns, or construction method and scheduling concerns.
- Participate in hand‑off from design to CA with PM and PA.
- Review project schedule, design intent, special features, and budget with client expectations.
Financial
- Review change order requests promptly and provide recommendations to PM, PA, or CA I for processing to owner/client; forward and track engineering scope change orders to consultants.
- Review payment applications (certified by PM, PA, or CA I).
Closeout
- Review closeout documents and provide comments for contract corrections or additional information.
- Include as‑builts, O&M manuals, warranties, attic stock transmittals, financial statements, and lien release.
- Facilitate GC financial closeout once all closeout activities are finished.
- Participate in project team post‑construction closeout and lessons‑learned discussion.
- Perform post‑construction services and investigations as needed.
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in construction science/management, architecture, engineering, or related field.
- 3‑5 years combined experience in construction administration and/or architecture.
- Previous experience in an architecture, engineering, or construction industry firm.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read and understand plan documents.
- Understanding of building technology fundamentals.
- Excellent time‑management skills.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks amid competing priorities.
- Ability to absorb new ideas quickly.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
