Job Summary

As a Laborer at Harbor Services, you will perform a variety of tasks involving physical labor at construction sites. You will also assist other craft workers as necessary, ensuring projects run smoothly and safely.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operate Tools:
    Use various hand tools and power tools efficiently.
  • Site Preparation:
    Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
  • Excavation Work:
    Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes.
  • Equipment Signaling:
    Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.
  • Traffic Control:
    Control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones.
  • Concrete Work:
    Mix, pour, or spread concrete using portable cement mixers.
  • Safety Inspections:
    Perform safety inspections of work areas.
  • Manual Labor:
    Clean out ditches, remove concrete forms, and perform general manual labor.
  • Assist Skilled Workers:
    Take direction from and assist skilled laborers.
  • Falsework/Formwork:
    Assist in the erection and removal of falsework and formwork.
  • Supply Management:
    Gather and distribute supplies and tools on the job site.
  • Material Handling:
    Carry and clean various materials as directed.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Safety Awareness:
    Ability to identify and correct unsafe conditions.
  • Work Pace:
    Capable of working at a sustained pace and producing quality work.
  • Accountability:
    Must be accountable for conduct and have excellent attendance.
  • Instruction Following:
    Ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Teamwork:
    Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Work Ethic:
    Must have a strong work ethic, be reliable, and exercise good judgment.
  • Compliance:
    Must pass a background check, drug test, and have a clean MVR.
  • Flexibility:
    Ability to have a flexible work schedule, including working overtime and weekends as needed.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma:
    Required.
  • Construction

    Experience:

    One year of construction labor experience is preferred.
