Assistant Research Scientist, Georgia Cancer Center
Position at Augusta University (Georgia Cancer Center) for early career investigators in Cancer Prevention, Control and Population Health. The role focuses on community engagement, research on health disparities, and program development.
Responsibilities- Plan and implement community programs to reduce cancer incidence, morbidity, and mortality in partnership with institutions and organizations.
- Organize community focus groups to identify cultural components that enhance program effectiveness.
- Relay community concerns to leadership and identify partnership opportunities to support research.
- Manage community outreach, coalition building, strategic planning, grant writing, and program evaluation.
- Conduct research on socioeconomic factors, healthcare resource availability, and racial differences in cancer survival and treatment.
- Address health disparities and promote health fairness at local, regional, state, national, and international levels.
- Utilize tools such as social determinants of health indices, human development index, and social vulnerability index in research.
- PhD or equivalent degree in a related field.
Full‑time (1.0 FTE), fiscal year based, works year‑round. Salary commensurate with education, experience, and achievements; subject to funding availability.
